Basic policy of the organizationSince its inception, our university has made it its goal to be an open university and a new-age system of education and research. Through research projects within the university, as well as Special Research Projects, the university has provided research support adequate for each research stage, and has endeavored to deepen specialization and to promote interdisciplinary education and research. Moreover, as the core of Tsukuba Science City, the university has cultivated its distinctive features and strong points, and has achieved a high level of education and research through cooperation with numerous research institutions in Tsukuba City, in various projects such as the university cooperative graduate system, joint researches, researcher exchanges etc.
In a context where a higher contribution is expected from Tsukuba Science City, in its role of hub in the global knowledge network, the University of Tsukuba aims to be a comprehensive university covering a wide range of academic fields and providing interdisciplinary education and research. The university has made it its goal to play an active role in strengthening the cooperation among research institutions, and to further improve its education and research, in order to cultivate talented human resources with a broad international perspective.
