Project

Sustainable Local Community Planning Centered on the University Through Meals and Sports

Summary

We, the Tsukuba Athlete Restaurant (TAR), intend to develop a sustainable local community centered on the university and promote university sports. Around “university sports” and “meals”, TAR can mutually support the university and community, promote multi-generational exchange, and work on the planning of the local community model to develop in a sustainable way.

We think that homemakers who have finished raising kids and farmers will achieve a sense of fulfillment through support of and exchange with athletes by encouraging them to support by providing meals fit for athletes to university athletes and university athletes will set the mood for the community through good showing in matches and provide assistance to the community if there is a need. We expect for local people to become a second family to university students who come from other localities and for Tsukuba to become their adopted home. Then, we will contribute to the planning of the community capable of sustainable community and generation exchanges by connecting the local community based on university sports.

At the moment, we have held dinners more than a dozen times with the cooperation of research institutes including T-PIRC, groups including university circles or clubs, and local homemakers. As such, it was also an exchange between homemakers who cooperated in the cooking, etc. and students and the possibility of community planning was seen. From now on, we also aim for the realization of activities to improve the student athletes’ funding problem by crossing it with food loss problem and gender equality including the creation of a place that allows women to shine, as well as the development of the local community.
