General Research Activities at the Tsukuba-Plant Innovation Research Center

Summary

At the Tsukuba-Plant Innovation Research Center, the Gene Research Center proactively conducts gene function analysis in plants, and the Smart and Sustainable Agriculture Research Division promotes agricultural research in fields. With these as our research hubs, we have established overseas research units, special joint research units in collaboration with private enterprises, as well as research units with National Research and Development Institute laboratories, establishing an all-in-one research base that handles everything from basic research on plant biotechnology and biological resources, to application from basic research, development and social implementation. Through these activities, we contribute to the creation of a sustainable society where food sources and other resources are secure with stability.

 

From the results of the center’s state-of-the-art research and various efforts in societal application, we also promote the human resource empowerment with an understanding of next-generation technology. The center is comprised of the below center (includes Joint Usage /Research Center appointed by MEXT), four divisions and two units with the goal of strengthening research prowess and promoting societal application.
